Wellingborough school needed an installation creating to honour all of the donators that helped build their new sixth form centre. This was a sizeable investment from the donators and as such needed to reflect that in the quality of the installation. They wanted something truly special and unique whilst presenting themselves as modern and traditional. I decided to create a brick structure that stuck out from the wall at different depths to give off a free flowing artistic and modern vibe whilst using the conventional brick shapes and simple format of text centralised to give it a traditional edge. I used the school’s colour palette and different sizes of brick to represent the level of donation, and mixed them all in together to create some really interesting patterns. The location is in a stairwell which would otherwise be quite dull now has this striking piece wrap around the corner of the stairwell turning it into a feature. The end result should make the 300+ donors feel appreciated through it’s unique approach.
